sad day for Vancouver and the Fuzzi crew. After our hockey team lost the final game of the playoffs, Vancouver had a massive
riot. Some pathetic folks decided it was a great opportunity to trash other people's stuff and disgrace out beautiful city.
Hats off to the Police, Fire and Ambulance serices for all their amazing help. Also a huge Warm Fuzzi goes out to all the
volunteers that have gone downtown this morning to help clean up the city core. The
Fuzzi Crew went downtown last night to watch the final game. We didn't want to miss this amazing event...watching a hockey
game with 100,000 other fans is an amazing experience and this was out third time downtown.Then we lost
the game.... After viewing the news videos, we realized that we were super close to the start
of the riots. What we had thought as a loud salute to our team (at the end of the game) turned out to be the start of the
riots. To be honest, the "vibe" of the crowds was strange. It just didn't feel "right", and we packaged
up all our chairs and cushions right away... just in case.... which turned out to be a good call. As
it happened, the bottles that were thrown at the big outdoor screen were just 10's of meters behind us at the CBC zone. We
got out and away from the crowds ASAP, but smoke was already rising from the city by the time we crossed the Cambie Bridge.
My heart sank at that point... did it really have to get to this... again? We had all hoped that
this would never happen.

I am currently writing my very own tales for Pandora's Museum, I thought a little research into the literary history of the Warm Fuzzi might be interesting. The idea of Warm Fuzzies has
been around for some time, but it was L. Richard Lessor that ensured that the tale lived on. Published in 1971 by Argus Communications
of Chicago, this little book entitled "Fuzzies, a folk tale for all ages" was illustrated by Patricia Ellen Ricci.
The book is now a rarety and if you happen to own one you might get upward of $90 for this little gem. For the full story

the Fuzzi Faux Fur Studio I would like
to introduce the "Very Berry" handbag from the "Front Lawn" Series. Today I will take you behind-the-scenes
of the creation of this fun little handbag. THE INSPIRATION A brand new collection honouring the arrival of spring. Ahh, fresh strawberries; the wonderful smell, the
juicy fruit and the delicate texture of the perfectly spaced seeds! No wonder it's inspiring. The fuchsia coloured faux fur is the
most luxurious short-haird fur we have ever worked with. It has a beautiful sheen and super saturated colour... perfect for
the expression of spring when nature truly out does herself with a phenomenal burst of new growth. The tiny seeds are expressed
in rows of small white shells imbedded in the lush fur. The interior of the handbag sports a cute-as-can-be leaf-shaped pocket
that can hold your lipstick, iPod Shuffle, or your keys. The
leaf is the energy source of the plant and we couldn't resist adding another leaf accent on the outside as well. Hanging from
chromed hardware, the leaf will swing in the breeze when you walk. Carry spring on your arm every day... rain or shine! Happy Holidays Everyone!

THE PROCESS This faux fur was a
pleasure working with. The rich pink is almost iridescent and it is so soft and dense that it just begs to be touched.
I opted for a different approach on this piece by using multiple colours and beading instead of deep sculpting. This seemed
appropriate since the pink is such a strong statement that sculpting it would have just undermined its beauty. Its colour
is also an inspiration to its final design. It just looks like a juicy berry colour!
The crown of the "berry" is constructed from dense long white faux fur. It is always fun to
mix the colours and textures. The two different faux furs are sewn together by hand to ensure a strong and tidy seam. After
the two were joined, I sculpted the shape of the top as a leafy crown. The beading was intended from the start, and is meant
to evoke the idea of seeds. Just like raspberries and strawberries I wanted to keep the seeds in a linear pattern. After a
little experimentation, I decided to use four rows of white shells as the seeds to express this idea. After receiving a nice flat rectangular bottom, I constructed the interior liner and straps from
grass green faux leather. It has a perfect "crinkled" pattern that looks a lot like the veining on leaves. The detailing
is always a lot of fun. If can be functional, like a pocket, or just for fun, like the dangling leaf. Just like the liners
and straps, each detail is custom designed for the individual piece. The "Very Berry" handbag has both an interior
pocket and a leafy accessory that flutters in the wind as you walk.

SHOW and TELL From
the Fuzzi Faux Fur Studio Today I am
presenting another behind-the-scenes how and tell of a Fuzzi Faux Fur handbag. This time I would like to introduce "Azura"
the handbag from the Liquid Series Collection. THE
PROCESS As always, we start with a piece of high quality faux fur in one hand
and a concept in the other. This time I was working from a developing concept of water. This faux fur is very short and dense.
Instead of a deep sculpt, I have been experimenting with tip-trimming for furs, such as this, that are dense and each hair
is tipped with a contrasting colour. By removing the tip colour and sculpting a little shallower, a high-contrast design emerges.
The colourings are perfect for the concept... glad I brought some of this faux fur home! This piece I had a shape in mind
from the start: a small flat-bottomed handbag that would stand up on its own. The faux fur is cut to suit the finished dimensions and seam allowances. After
the initial sculpt, I check the alignment of the design at the ends so that the finished design will look continuous all the
way around. This one hung on my studio wall for about a week, just so that I could be sure the design was "just right"
before I committed to the next step. Next up: the liner and finishing touches. Our liners are custom machine-sewn in our studio.
The liner texture and colour is always carefully selected to suit the faux fur exterior. The Azura handbag has received a
glam-denim liner and straps that matches the blue colour of the faux fur and adds a little bit of shimmer to the water concept.

CONCEPT This handbag is called "Azura" a blue stone. The sculpted design
is inspired by droplets of dew falling softly onto the mirror surface of a still pond. The sound is barely discernible, but
the symmetry of the rings are nature at its most beautiful. The ever-expanding rings distort the reflections into shifting

TELL From the Fuzzi Faux Fur Studio Today
I want to share with you a little bit of behind the scenes in the creation of a Fuzzi Faux Fur handbag. We've dug deep into
our hundreds of images and reference materials and we've found a few to share. THE PROCESS We always start with a piece of high
quality faux fur in one hand and a concept in the other. Sometimes I work on an established series, sometimes I will start
a brand new "train of thought". If I don't already have a finished bag shape in mind, I will at least cut
the fur into a shape and size that allows a few different options. This piece (center image) has the option to become an envelope
style or a box style bag. The unsculptured upper portion gives me the option to re-size the fur after carving... for example.
I hang up the sculpted pieces for a few days to assess and adjust the overall design before I sew the fur into a piece. It
is important to me that the design is "just right", that the design fits the bag and that the sculpt reflects the
concept correctly. Once I am satisfied, I will trim the fur off the seam allowance to ensure a easier and stronger final product.
I hand-sewn all the fur pieces together and hand-sewn the fur to the bag liner. All liners are custom machine sewn in our
studio. THE CONCEPT
This handbag will be called "Agate" in the Talisman Series. The concept is based on ripples
on a still pond. The overlapping and interacting shapes are the reflections of the world around us as we see ourselves reflected
in the water's surface. The ripples, and their distortions, are designed to run continuously around the bag for a seamless

the Eastside culture crawl opens. The biggest and best Vancouver art crawl. This FREE three-day event has over 380 artists opening their studios
