THE PROJECT Pandora’s Museum is a collection
of multi-medium dioramas that embrace the world of myth and fable. They embody the wondrous world of the unseen, the obscure,
and the fantastical. Created in miniature, and meticulously crafted, these dioramas are full of life and detail. Every tiny
book is bound with thread, carts are fully functional, and leather sandals are scuffed and worn. What makes these pieces so unique
is that the artist has written new tales specifically for the pieces. These are new myths, written for a modern world, that
strongly reflect the long history of storytelling, fables and myths of the artist’s own history. The depth of the research
in the areas of mythology and historical craft adds many layers to this work and gives it a sense of authenticity. The diving
force behind the work is to revitalize the world of wonder, joy and imagination in all of us. Perhaps you will find something
unexpected… perhaps you will recognize it.

THE ARTIST Trish Kostian was born in The Netherlands and grew
up in a small city just North of Amsterdam. She was raised in a society that was steeped in the fable and myth of the rich
Northern European culture. These mythical tales reach far back into history and have endured the transformative forces of
time, changing environments and the powers of religion and politics. These tales, like all myths, not only tell an entertaining
story, but also inform the culture of its customs and ethics as a living history. Most importantly, they go far beyond the
watered down children’s tales of North American popular culture. These are tales of real horror, bounteous beauty, death
and doom; these are stories of consequence, of great passions and evil deeds. Trish Kostian immigrated to Northern British Columbia in her teens and has
since then integrated the new world myths and tales into her life and work. Now in her 40’s, Trish has been reaching
back to her roots to enrich her work and expand her mythology studies by embracing her European culture once again. Her travels
through Northern Europe in the spring have reinforced her strong connection with this rich mythical culture and her own heritage.

“Shakespeare said that art is a mirror held up to nature. And that’s
what it is. The nature is your nature, and all of these
wonderful poetic images of mythology are referring to something in you. - JOSEPH CAMPBELL - To view this special collection, please contact the artist

next exhibit is scheduled for November at the Eastside Culture Crawl. Check back for additional info on other showings.
